Regular readers of our blog will know how much I comment on having the ‘best job in the world’. Heer & Ranjah’s photo shoot was the kind that keeps that belief alive within me… actually it’s sandwiched in my camera bag between the SB-900 & D700. I am reminded of this beautiful fact every time I go to grab my camera.
The couple’s original wedding photos which were shot by another photographer overseas left something to be desired of. Heer approached us with the idea of making her vision of beautiful and emotional photos come to life in a post-wedding shoot. When given an opportunity like this, there is a immense pressure to live up to. Beyond the technical and creative aspect of shooting, lighting, direction, set build-up etc.. is the question of emotion. Will the emotion be there between Heer & Ranjah’s several months and time zones removed from the wedding day?
The stage was set and the actors knew their roles. Unfolding like a Shakeperian romance, the shoot took on a life of it’s own. If a picture is worth a thousand words, Heer & Ranjah’s wrote a epic novel during our session. They managed to transform Knoxx College into their personal palace through the subtle ways they walked, looked out the window and held each other. They showcased their connection, which our lenses were hungry to capture, in an amazing display of sincere emotion. For me, these moments are truly golden, and remind me why I have the best job in the world.
