The English Countryside… Romance, Roman Ruins & Raas Garba?!? Part 1

Imagine a narrow cobblestone tree canopied roadway lined with shoulder height brick walls.  Green moss clinging to the faded white stucco walls and up to the overgrown eaves. A herd of cows in pasture, a church steeple jutting through the horizon and a pub named after an animal combined with an descriptive adjective, awaits your arrival. You have travel back in time to a place where life was simpler… the English countryside.

A landscape so lush, which on a clear summer day betrays it’s typically overcast and rainy standard. When the weather does play nice, it is nothing short of inspiring. This land gave birth to some of the greatest English romantic literary works. Many of these epic stories woven around the lords and castles which have long ago governed this landscape and perhaps some were influenced by the historic Haldswell House. This house (manor) which payed host to over 100 of Menka & Ajay’s closest friends and family for several eventful days.

When my dear friend Menka asked if I would be up for shooting her wedding, I was flattered and graciously accepted. The four days in the UK countryside were a cavalcade of dances, music and tea parties. It started with some fun in the sun, a formal engagement and a night of dancing under the stars and in the shadow of a castle. Sounds like a romance novel. More tk…

Dipti & Sumit’s Wedding Photos

In our very first email from Dipti & Sumit, they had told us that their parents had taken control of their wedding ceremony, but they wanted us to help bring the fun back into their day. With a whopping 3+ hours in their day dedicated to the creative shoot with the bridal party, we scoured up and down the streets of downtown for picture perfect spots.  Dipti is “a quiet girl who likes to cut loose when no one is looking ” and Sumit, whose “love of beer trumps everything” (their descriptions for each other) made for wonderful band leaders for their adventurous friends.

Thanks guys for dedicating such a big chunk of your day to us…it’s a dream come true when a couple can allow the luxury of time for creative shoots. We’re still hoping you’ll be our neighbors some day soon!

Vivian & David’s Wedding Photos

Weddings can be a stressful time for many couples, but Vivian & David took the whole day with stride and with a big smile on their face. It’s not very often that couples give us a big chunk of their wedding day for a creative photo shoot. But as you can see, the more time you give us the more fun we get to have with you!  Here at Kumari, we are still kids at heart and any opportunity to go and play with our couples we’re grateful for! Thanks Viv and Dave and your wonderful bridal party for coming out to play with and for trusting our vision. It was a fabulous day we’ll cherish for always!undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Parker, Kevin & Jessica’s E-Shoot Photos

Shooting babies is one of the hardest things to do…they’re moody, need to sleep, wanna eat all in a moments notice. Some of our couples are like that too… I’m looking at you Rishi! “Yes you can have the candy bar, only AFTER you smile for the camera!”…lol! However, despite all it’s difficulties, it’s an incredibly rewarding experience to capture a new life.

When we met Kevin and Jessica, they were expecting…and we thought why not bring their little baby into their e-shoot. Afterall, their world revolves around him, and Parker would totally look great in the limelight. Thank you Parker for being so patient with us as we posed you in every which way…and thank you Kevin and Jessica for allowing us in your lives to capture your family’s love. We’re looking forward to the wedding day and maybe by then, Parker could crawl down the aisle celebrating in your joy!
